Reflecting on the Past – Malachite, 36 x 48 in., oil on canvas, 2021

Kyle Bennett

Kyle Bennett was born in 1987, in St. Albans, Newfoundland. He studied Fine Arts at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College and received his Bachelor of Fine Art degree in 2011.

Kyle uses form, light and mood to explore different ideas within his painting practice.

Recently Kyle’s focus has shifted from spectacular seascapes to magnificently highlighting the beauty of multi-faceted natural stone minerals. His large-scale canvases cause us to question our concepts of value. Do we decide worth based on inherent beauty, rarity, or intrinsic utility. And perceptively, Kyle reminds us of the environmental impact of global mining methods.

Kyle lives and works in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.
