Jason van Horne

Jason van Horne builds scale-models depicting the remnants of our society years after some forgotten, civilization-ending event.

Teetering skyscrapers on the brink of collapse, dilapidated storefronts, and highways clogged with rusting vehicles leading out to the abandoned houses and looted shopping malls of the suburbs.

Jason constructs his miniatures mostly from scratch. He uses waste materials of consumer product packaging and details them with a variety of found objects including the innards of obsolete electronics, parts of broken toys, model cars and other odds and ends. All are used as embellishments before their final “weathering” which gives them the appearance of being exposed to the elements for many years.
