Jerry Campbell is a master of plein-air paintings, created outdoors, on an easel, in real time. He
has conquered the capture of distinctive qualities of fugitive light and constantly changing
atmospheric and environmental conditions.
Campbell also creates magnificent, large-scale studio paintings, some of which are born of his
previous studies, while others are composed of still life.
He is an accomplished colourist and, more broadly, a composer of light in a manner as to satisfy
the most exacting appreciation for modernist work.
As great artists do, he paints from keen observation and deploys impressive skills depicting
direct sunlight, spectral moonlight, window light, reflected, diffused, and electric light.
Light Industry is an exhibition of new perceptual and public experiences accelerated by the
originality of the artist’s vision.
Jerry Campbell received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Ontario Collage of Art and
Design University, Toronto. His work has won several awards and contributes to numerous
public and private collections including the City of Toronto.
